Comedian Louis C.K. banned cell phones from his performances at the Side Splitters Comedy Club in Tampa, Florida, reports the Tampa Bay Times:
To prevent recording at Side Splitters, the audience had to place phones inside locked Yondr pouches before entering the main room. A host repeatedly asked the crowd not to record anything, and off-duty, uniformed police officers stood outside and in the lobby providing security.
The 51-year-old comic joked that a good way to make people forget that he masturbated in front of (five) women is to “tell a joke about some kids that got shot at a school. That’s worse. … They tend to forget the first thing,” notes the Tampa Bay Times.
C.K also joked about his career nosedived after the reported non-consensual masturbation incidents, which he suggested were consensual:
I used to play arenas. Lucky for you, I’ve had a bad year…If you ever ask somebody, “Can I [masturbate] in front of you?” and they say “Yes, you may,” just say “Are you sure?” … And then if they say yes, just still don’t do it.
